In January 2013 the leadership of Metroplex Marines Coordinating Council (MMCC) were notified that the active duty unit in Quantico, The Wounded Warrior Regiment (WWR), was being cut short of funds. In an effort to raise money for these Marines and Navy Corpsmen, Wounded Warrior Ball was born to raise funds and cover costs not taken care of by Department of Defense.
This started a momentum that carried on to our inaugural event on January 18, 2014 at the Fort Worth Club raising $50,000 to donate to the WWR. In 2015 at our annual event Cowtown Warriors raised over $120,000 to help benefit local veterans throuhgout Texas.
Attendees included: The Honorable Gordon England (Former Secretary of the Navy), Sergeant RV Burgin (USMC WW2), Mike Moncrief (Former Mayor of Fort Worth), Zim Zimmerman (Mayor Pro Tem), Jeremiah Workman (Navy Cross Recipient) and uniformed officers and enlisted military personnel.
This event grabbed momentum where now we are branding the event “Cowtown Warriors Ball”. This will continue to be an annual event to help raise money for those who gave us so much with sacrifice. We have many wounded, ill and injured veterans throughout Dallas, Fort Worth and its surrounding areas. Now it is our time to help them. .
Cowtown Warriors Ball is a function of the Metroplex Marines Coordinating Council (MMCC) operating under the 501(c)3 Metroplex Military Charitable Trust.
